Travel Agent
Location: Cumbria
Working arrangement: Full-time, 100% office-based
A growing travel agency in Cumbria is looking for an experienced Travel Agent to join its team. The agency arranges everything from package holidays to longer-haul and more complex trips, and is seeking someone who enjoys helping customers find and book the right holiday.
This is a customer-facing role based entirely in the office. Applicants must live within reasonable travelling distance of the Cumbria office and have relevant travel agency experience.
The role
You will support customers throughout the booking process, from their first enquiry to their return home. You will listen to what they want from their trip, recommend suitable options and manage the details needed to deliver a smooth experience.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Handling enquiries in person, by telephone and by email.
- Researching destinations, flights, accommodation, transfers and other travel arrangements.
- Creating and presenting suitable holiday options, including package holidays and long-haul trips.
- Providing accurate quotations and converting enquiries into bookings.
- Making and amending reservations using supplier and booking systems.
- Explaining travel documents, entry requirements, payment schedules and booking terms to customers.
- Offering relevant extras, such as travel insurance, excursions or upgrades, where appropriate.
- Managing booking administration, payments and customer records accurately.
- Liaising with tour operators, airlines, hotels and other suppliers to resolve queries.
- Supporting customers when plans change or issues arise before or during travel.
- Building lasting relationships that encourage repeat bookings and referrals.
About you
You will have previous experience in a travel agency or a similar travel sales role and be confident handling customer enquiries and bookings. You should have good destination knowledge, strong attention to detail and the ability to explain options clearly.
The ideal candidate will also be able to manage several bookings at different stages, work accurately under pressure and provide a friendly, professional service. Experience arranging both package holidays and long-haul travel would be particularly useful.
Working arrangements
This role is 100% office-based in Cumbria . Candidates must be able to commute to the office reliably; remote and hybrid working are not available for this position.
