Payroll Specialist

Location: Wilmslow, Cheshire Hours: Full-time or part-time Working arrangement: Primarily office-based, with some hybrid working available

A busy firm of Chartered Accountants in Wilmslow is looking for an experienced Payroll Specialist to join its team. The firm will consider candidates seeking either full-time or part-time hours.

You will manage payroll work for a range of clients, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time while providing a helpful, reliable service to the businesses you support.

The role Your responsibilities will include:

• Processing weekly, fortnightly and monthly client payrolls.
• Handling starters, leavers, changes to pay, statutory payments and pension deductions.
• Checking payroll calculations and resolving discrepancies before submission.
• Completing RTI submissions and supporting year-end payroll procedures.
• Administering workplace pension requirements, including auto-enrolment and related submissions.
• Responding to payroll queries from clients and colleagues.
• Keeping payroll records accurate, confidential and up to date.
• Managing deadlines across multiple client payrolls and keeping clients informed when information is required.

About you Previous payroll bureau experience is essential. You will be used to processing payrolls for multiple clients, managing competing deadlines and dealing with different payroll requirements.

You should have a good working knowledge of PAYE, National Insurance, statutory payments and workplace pensions. Strong attention to detail, discretion and clear communication skills are also important. Experience using payroll software within an accountancy practice or bureau would be beneficial.

Working arrangements The role is based at the firm’s Wilmslow office , with some hybrid working available. Full-time and part-time applications are welcome; the working pattern can be discussed with suitable candidates.
