Major duties

As an Occupational Health Nurse, at the full performance level you will perform the following duties: Directs and coordinates all aspects of the medical eligibility screening process Collaborates with the agency medical officer and others to maintain and improve the processes used by the team Analyzes data from numerous sources and makes determinations about complex issues, Serves as a resource in the identification of critical issues related to the review of pre-employment medical documentation

BASIC REQUIREMENTS: The Office of Personnel Management (OPM), Individual Occupational Requirements (IORs) for the Occupational Health Nurse, 0610 series are as follows: Degree: A graduate or higher-level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education(external link), Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs(external link), Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education(external link), or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education(external link) at the time the degree was obtained. (NOTE: Must submit transcript) Degree from Foreign Nursing School: Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (external link) is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools. (NOTE: Must submit transcript) and; Licensure: For all grade levels and positions, applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination (external link). In addition, they must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. (NOTE: Must submit a copy of current, active, full and unrestricted licensure) IN ADDITION TO MEETING THE ABOVE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, APPLICANT MUST ALSO MEET THE FOLLOWING MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE GS-13 LEVEL. Applicant must qualify for the GS-13 grade level if they possess one (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-12 grade level or equivalent performing duties such as: Documenting all steps of the medical clearance review processes to make recommendations for medical qualification for job placement. Coordinating medical testing of personnel within the agency through civilian contract services. Managing, reviewing and approving pre-employment examinations to establish baseline health data to determine initial health eligibility for job placement processing. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
