Histology / Cytology Laboratory Technician

As a Histo/Cyto Laboratory Technician, you will play a critical role in delivering accurate, high-quality diagnostic results by preparing and processing specimens that enable timely pathological evaluation.

You will join a collaborative laboratory team dedicated to quality, precision, and continuous improvement. Working in a fast-paced diagnostic environment, you will perform a variety of histology and cytology procedures while ensuring compliance with laboratory quality and safety standards.

What You Will Do

• Perform routine histology and cytology laboratory procedures including specimen accessioning, tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, slide preparation, staining, coverslipping, and cytology specimen preparation.
• Prepare high-quality tissue sections and cytology slides for pathological examination while meeting established turnaround times and quality expectations.
• Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and perform routine maintenance on laboratory instruments and equipment.
• Ensure accurate specimen identification, labeling, tracking, and documentation throughout the testing process.
• Perform quality control and quality assurance activities to maintain reliable laboratory results.
• Identify and escalate technical issues, specimen discrepancies, and equipment concerns when required.
• Maintain laboratory records and documentation in accordance with regulatory and company requirements.
• Support the implementation and continuous improvement of laboratory procedures and workflows.
• Collaborate with pathologists, laboratory colleagues, customer support teams, and cross-functional partners to resolve testing-related issues.
• Contribute to the training and onboarding of new technicians as needed.

What You Will Bring

• Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Biomedical Science, Life Sciences, Veterinary Technology, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in a histology and/or cytology laboratory environment.
• Demonstrated experience with tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, routine and special staining techniques.
• Experience in cytology specimen preparation, staining, and quality assessment is highly preferred.
• Strong technical knowledge of histology and cytology laboratory processes and methodologies.
• Familiarity with laboratory quality systems, quality control procedures, and laboratory information systems.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-volume diagnostic environment.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional certification such as Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT), Histotechnologist (HTL), ASCP certification, or an equivalent credential.
