Backend Engineer

What will you do?

• You will work alongside your teammates developing new functionalities.
• You will have fluid communication with business people to understand their needs and problems. Additionally, you will work side by side with our product and UX team to provide a technical vision to the solutions we define for them.
• You will help keep the platform stable… Yes, at idealista we also have bugs, so you will have to help identify and fix them.

What do we expect from you?

• You have at least 3 years of experience developing the backend of an application using Java, and you can talk to us about it.
• We mainly work with Java and Spring, but what we are truly interested in is that you have certain well-established programming fundamentals.
• You don't settle for "as long as it works, it's fine." We place great value on both best practices and defining designs and architectures that allow us to extend the platform sustainably. So, we expect these to be terms that you also prioritize.
• We work in a team. The team consists of your colleagues; but it also includes the product and UX people, as well as the business people, etc.
• You like this world. And you love knowing that you will have to be learning throughout your entire professional life. Additionally, you are humble enough to accept teachings from your colleagues, and generous enough to share your knowledge with them :)
• You have curiosity and initiative. Ultimately, this job is about the problems we are able to solve and how we manage to do it. So, you are expected to be able to analyze, ask, request help (and offer it), and know how to propose solutions to them.

What other things are a plus?

• In addition to having tackled the backend part, you are comfortable with the front.
• You feel curious and have experimented with at least other programming paradigms such as functional programming.
• We also value that you can navigate minimally in the language of Shakespeare. At a reading level, it is indispensable, because 80% of the technical material in our profession is in English. If you also speak it with some fluency, even better!
