Linux Platform Engineer (Contract)

Key Responsibilities:

Linux System Administration:

• Install, Configure, Harden, Patch, and maintain Linux systems (primarily RHEL-based distributions)
• Perform OS tuning, performance optimisation, and capacity planning
• Ensure system security compliance (CIS benchmarks, patching, vulnerability remediation)

Infrastructure Operations:

• Manage Linux systems across development, testing, and production environments
• Provide Level 3 support for Linux-related incidents and issues
• Support high availability and disaster recovery configurations

Automation & DevOps:

• Develop and maintain automation using Ansible, Bash, and Python
• Automate provisioning, patching, and configuration management workflows
• Working knowledge of BigFix for endpoint management, patch deployment, software distribution and compliance reporting.
• Continuously improving system efficiency through infrastructure-as-code practices

System Monitoring & Reliability:

• Monitor system health, logs, and performance using enterprise monitoring tools
• Troubleshoot system bottlenecks, kernel issues, and application dependencies
• Ensure high system availability and uptime
• Working knowledge of Zabbix for infrastructure monitoring, alert management, and performance monitoring.

Hardware & Platform Support:

• Support physical server infrastructure, including installation and maintenance
• Coordinate with vendors and internal teams for hardware-related issues

Documentation & Compliance:

• Maintain documentation of system configurations, procedures, and runbooks
• Ensure compliance with internal policies, security standards, and audit requirements

Requirements:

• Degree in computer science/information technology
• Minimum 4 years of experience in IT Infrastructure Engineer role supportingcritical system
• Experienced in developing infrastructure automation using Ansible and shell scripting.
• Strong hands-on expertise in RHEL / Linux (LVM, Networking, Kernel tuning)
• Experience with configuration management tools (Ansible preferred)
• Proficiency in shell scripting (Bash) and familiarity with Python
• Experience working in large-scale production environments
• Familiarity with containers (Docker/Kubernetes) is a plus
• Understanding of security hardening and compliance standards
• Red Hat certification (RHCSA/RHCE) is highly desirable
• Ability to provide 24x7 support and handle standby/on-call support whenever needed.
• Strong working knowledge of the banking environment.
• Experience with MAS TRM Guidelines and PCI-DSS security compliance requirements will be an added advantage.
