Acts as a strategic link between the category's Purchasing team (buyers, assistants, and analysts) and the area's leadership. Responsible for leading the category operation with a commercial focus, ensuring effective execution of the purchasing calendar, people management, category performance, and integration with other areas of the company.
Responsibilities and duties
- Monitor and ensure production and replenishment deadlines for purchases, together with the responsible buyers.
- Monitor the performance of the main groups and products through KPIs and performance indicators.
- Manage the commercial calendar and its developments (showroom, launches, deliveries, commercial actions, etc.) in alignment with the purchasing team.
- Supervise the vertical receiving process of the category, ensuring alignment with schedules and goals.
- Contribute to the construction of the category budget, supervising buyers in their portfolios and participating in strategic and periodic meetings with brands (JBPs, Sell out, etc.)
- Act on initiatives that ensure the profitability of the category (markup, sell-through, turnover, and other commercial indicators).
- Participate and intervene, when necessary, in VM actions, campaigns, and customer journey in digital channels, and negotiation of media plans with brands, ensuring good category performance.
- Support the team in market analysis and identification of new opportunities with partner suppliers.
- Stimulate innovation and the expansion of the product mix, following trends and consumer behavior.
- Directly lead the category's team of buyers, promoting individual development and preparing the team for future leadership positions.
- Monitoring and leadership rituals with direct reports (performance evaluation, periodic 1:1s, time management).
- Support buyers in managing their assistants (assistants and analysts), promoting an environment of continuous development.
- Onboarding for new team members, as well as periodic retraining.
- Directly manage a strategic portfolio of brands;
- Conduct trend, market, and consumer behavior research for purchasing direction;
- Perform curation of the product and brand mix aligned with the positioning and commercial strategy of the channels;
- Build the purchase and assortment plan for the portfolio under your responsibility;
- Develop performance analyses of sell-in, sell-out, turnover, margin, and stock coverage;
- Lead commercial negotiations with partner brands, including seasonal negotiations, campaigns, commercial conditions, and OFF opportunities;
- Develop action plans to maximize sales and profitability of the brands in the portfolio;
- Structure commercial strategies in partnership with Marketing, CRM, Paid Media, and Trade;
- Monitor the performance of negotiated actions, ensuring analysis of stock, price, discount, and margin;
- Ensure alignment between the commercial calendar, brand activations, and sales strategy;
- Act as the main interface between partner brands and internal areas of the company;
- Monitor logistical processes, receipt of goods, and product activation on the website;
- Ensure excellence in brand execution on digital channels.
Requirements and qualifications
- Completed Higher Education in Fashion, Fashion Business, Administration, or related areas;
- Solid experience with multi-brand fashion buying;
- Experience in commercial negotiation and brand portfolio management;
- Strong commercial and analytical vision;
- Knowledge of retail and ecommerce indicators (sell-through, markup, coverage, margin, turnover, etc.);
- Experience with team management;
- Advanced Excel knowledge;
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the area.
- Advanced English.
