PHP Developer (Regular/Senior)

The foundations are poured. We are looking for people to build a palace upon them.

If you are a PHP developer who has been sitting in one place for several years because "everywhere it's the same legacy, just worse documented" – this text is for you. We do not promise a greenfield. We promise something rarer: a twenty-year monolith that has received new foundations over the last three years. Now, together with us, you will build completely new solutions for IdoSell merchants on top of them.

Where will you land?

IdoSell is a SaaS platform on which over 8 thousand online stores operate. Annually, over 68 million transactions and 22 billion PLN GMV pass through it. Black Friday for us is not a marketing campaign, but an annual load test in production – the code you write will be handling real orders for thousands of merchants on a Friday evening in November.

What has changed over the last three years?

We don't claim that "we are in the middle of a transformation." Most of the work is already behind us:

• New CI/CD, automated tests, and coding standards enforced in the pipeline, rather than in code review "out of goodwill"
• New API in OpenAPI standard with middleware architecture
• Full separation of frontend from backend – every new front is React on our design system, communicating with the backend exclusively via API
• Full production monitoring on ELK with tools to measure and debug what happens under load

Now the building begins – and for that, we need more hands.

Daily tasks

• Implementation of short, well-specified projects in the IdoSell core – modules of the administration panel, which merchants use for daily sales
• Legacy refactoring paired with unit and functional tests – not because it's expected, but so that every subsequent iteration is cheaper
• Leaving code more modular than you found it – this is our principle for every change
• Writing backend in vanilla PHP 8.2+ with parameterized queries to MySQL – without an ORM and without a framework that thinks for you
• Occasional assembly of simple screens from ready-made React components – we are not looking for a fullstack, but a backend developer who is not afraid of JSX
• Working with the new API in OpenAPI standard and close cooperation with the Tech Lead, Product Managers, and QA

Requirements

We are looking for people at the Regular and Senior levels. What matters to us:

• Min. 3 years of commercial experience in software development
• Good knowledge of PHP 8.2+ and object-oriented programming (OOP)
• Experience with MySQL – fluency in writing queries without ORM support
• Practice in writing tests in PHPUnit
• Ability to work with APIs (REST, OpenAPI) and Git
• English at a level of comfortable documentation reading
• Analytical thinking and the ability to gather requirements
• This is not a remote job – we are looking for people ready to work in our office in Szczecin
• Nice to have: PhpStorm, Symfony, RabbitMQ
• Nice to have experience with LLM – everyone in the team has a Claude license (Desktop + Code) and we use it for real work, not for demos
• Nice to have knowledge of Docker and containerization

Which team will you join?

We are not building a separate team from scratch for this recruitment. You will join one of the existing core teams – one that knows the code, the context, and its merchants. Each team has a Tech Lead responsible for architecture and quality, and a Team Lead who, as a mentor, will guide you through onboarding. You won't receive your first projects in a vacuum.
