About the company

I’m currently partnering with a growing business that is looking to appoint a Tax & Compliance Specialist as it continues to develop its in-house finance capability.

The business currently works closely with a Top 4 consultancy, which provides support and specialist advice across a range of tax matters. That relationship will continue, giving the successful individual access to external expertise while they build their knowledge of the business and gradually take ownership of more activity internally.

Your tasks

This is a brand-new role, created as part of the business’s strategy to bring more of its tax activity in-house. It represents a fantastic opportunity for someone to come in, take ownership and genuinely shape the position over time.

It’s a particularly attractive opportunity for someone looking to make their first move into industry, offering genuine ownership and exposure while retaining the technical support and expertise of external advisers.

Working closely with the CFO and external advisers, you will take ownership of tax reporting and compliance, ensuring returns and payments are completed accurately and on time.

Responsibilities will include

  • Owning tax reporting and compliance across the relevant areas of the business.
  • Preparing tax forecasts and managing cash tax payments.
  • Managing VAT reporting and controls, including registrations, returns, reconciliations and associated compliance requirements.
  • Working closely with the Governance team to maintain an accurate and up-to-date tax risk register.
  • Taking ownership of the forecasting of tax balances.
  • Providing practical tax guidance and training across the business in response to operational requirements and regulatory change.
  • Working alongside the Head of Tax and external advisers to identify opportunities to bring additional tax activity in-house over time.
