Company Overview

Our client is an established wholesaler and distributor supporting the supply and distribution of products to its customers and business partners.

As part of its ongoing operations, the company is looking for an Accounts Assistant to join its finance team and support day-to-day accounting, payment, reconciliation, shipment monitoring, and administrative activities.

Role Overview

The Accounts Assistant will support the Accountant in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring the smooth processing of day-to-day accounting activities.

The role focuses primarily on partial sets of accounts, Accounts Payable, bank and inter-company reconciliations, supplier payments, financial schedules, and shipment monitoring , alongside general office administration.

This is an entry-level opportunity suitable for candidates who are beginning their accounting career or have approximately 1–2 years of relevant experience and would like to build broader hands-on exposure within an in-house finance function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Handle partial sets of accounts, including processing accounting transactions and maintaining accurate financial records.
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and inter-company account reconciliations, ensuring financial records are accurate and complete.
  • Manage Accounts Payable (AP) activities, including processing and issuing payments to trade and non-trade suppliers.
  • Reconcile Statements of Account (SOA) against outstanding invoices in the accounting system and follow up on discrepancies where required.
  • Monitor incoming shipments, track delivery status, and coordinate with relevant internal teams to ensure timely receipt.
  • Prepare monthly financial schedules and supporting reports for accounting and financial reporting activities.
  • Maintain proper accounting documentation and supporting records for transactions and payments.
  • Provide general office administrative support to ensure organised and efficient daily operations.
  • Perform ad hoc accounting and administrative duties as assigned by the Accountant.

Requirements

  • Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline.
  • Entry-level candidates and those with 1–2 years of relevant accounting or finance experience are welcome.
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles, particularly Accounts Payable and reconciliations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and comfortable working with accounting records and financial data.
  • Good numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Organised and able to manage recurring tasks and deadlines effectively.
  • Able to work independently while collaborating with the Accountant and other internal teams.
  • Willing to learn and develop practical accounting knowledge in a hands-on environment.
