Senior Planner

Social Housing Repairs & Maintenance Based in Luton Full-Time, Permanent Salary: £34,000 - £37,000 per annum Here at Howells Solutions, we are working with a leading Social Housing contractor to recruit an experienced and highly organised Senior Planner to join their Repairs & Maintenance team, based in their office in Luton. This is a full-time, permanent position offering a competitive salary for an experienced Planner with a strong background in scheduling and coordinating mobile workforces . The role would suit someone with excellent technical planning skills who is confident managing complex workloads, prioritising appointments and ensuring operatives are scheduled efficiently. The Role As a Senior Planner, you will play a key role in the effective planning and scheduling of repairs and maintenance works, ensuring jobs are allocated to the most appropriate operatives and completed within agreed timescales. This is a hands-on, technical planning role , with a strong focus on scheduling, resource allocation and the day-to-day coordination of a mobile workforce. You will manage a busy and constantly changing workload, making informed scheduling decisions to maximise operative productivity and ensure customers receive a timely and effective service. You will work closely with operatives, supervisors, customers and internal teams to resolve scheduling issues, manage changes and ensure the smooth delivery of repairs and maintenance works. Key Responsibilities Planning and scheduling repairs and maintenance works for a large mobile workforce

Managing a high-volume and constantly changing workload

Allocating jobs to operatives based on location, skills, availability and priority

Maximising operative productivity and minimising travel time and downtime

Monitoring outstanding and overdue works and taking proactive action to resolve issues

Rescheduling appointments and reallocating work where required

Liaising with operatives and internal teams to resolve scheduling and operational issues

Ensuring appointments and works are scheduled in line with contractual and customer requirements

Using planning and scheduling systems to maintain accurate records and monitor performance

Supporting the resolution of customer queries and complaints where these relate to scheduling and appointments

Identifying opportunities to improve planning processes, efficiency and customer service

Key Criteria Strong previous experience in planning and scheduling a mobile workforce

Experience within Social Housing Repairs & Maintenance

Strong understanding of scheduling, resource allocation and workforce optimisation

Experience working in a high-volume repairs, maintenance, FM or similar operational environment

Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise competing demands

Confident making decisions quickly in a fast-paced environment

Strong IT skills and experience using planning/scheduling software

Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records

Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with operatives, customers and internal teams

Ability to troubleshoot scheduling issues and find practical solutions

A proactive approach with a strong focus on delivering an efficient service
