Trainee Liability Claims Handler
Do you find it interesting to delve into liability issues and develop yourself into a true specialist in claims handling? Then the role of Trainee Liability Claims Handler at Howden is perfect for you!
As a Trainee Liability Claims Handler, you will develop into a true specialist in the field of liability issues. Together with your colleagues, you will manage various client portfolios and act as the point of contact for claims. You will be surrounded by experienced claims handlers who excel in this field. Using their knowledge and experience, they will help you further in your professional development, so that you will soon be able to handle claim files independently.
What will your role look like? As a Trainee Liability Claims Handler, you will focus specifically on the liability issues of our clients. By following training courses and consulting frequently with colleagues, you will quickly develop into a fully qualified and substantive interlocutor. You will work in a structured manner and be (partially) responsible for monitoring and the progress of files that are being processed. You will represent the interests of the client during the settlement of the claim. You will also do this when there is no insurance coverage, or when the damage remains below the deductible. To create and maintain a good relationship, you will—naturally under the guidance of an experienced colleague—regularly visit relations. Together with the client, insurer, and any external specialists, you will eventually also formulate handling strategies to achieve optimal results and provide maximum peace of mind to your clients. Finally, you will also regularly attend networking events.
Every file is different and you work within a broad field in which you deal with complex liability files across a wide range of products, such as: business liability, employer liability, product liability, and the opening and closing of businesses active in all kinds of sectors. You will sometimes do this for international relations as well. This makes one file technically challenging while another is legally or insurance-technically complex.
Especially in the event of a claim, the customer experience is crucial, and you play an important role in that. With your knowledge and expertise, combined with providing a listening ear, you will ensure a professional handling of every claim file. You will keep the position of both the insured and the insurer in mind. In doing so, building and maintaining sustainable relationships with clients is central.

15% Contact with external parties
15% Training, Future Blue, and networking
