Medior/Senior Liability Claims Handler (AVB)

What will your role look like? As a Medior/Senior Liability Claims Handler, you act as the point of contact for major relationships. You communicate your vision and advice to the client regarding claim files and represent their interests during the settlement of the claim. You also do this when there is no insurance coverage, or when the damage remains below the deductible. To create and maintain a good relationship, you visit your contacts regularly.
You are responsible for handling claims independently. In doing so, you know that every file is different and you work within a broad field of play. You will deal with complex liability files across a wide range of products, such as: bedrijfsaansprakelijkheid, werkgeversaansprakelijkheid, productaansprakelijkheid, and the opening and closing of businesses active in all kinds of sectors. You sometimes do this for international relationships as well. This makes one file technically challenging while another is legally or insurance-technically complex.
As a Liability Claims Handler, you are legally knowledgeable, strong in communication (both written and oral), and inventive. You do not shy away from dialogue (where necessary), seeking a balance between the interests of the client, the commercial interest, and the (legally) justified position.
You have a lot of contact and consultation with, among others, insurers, experts, lawyers, interest groups, and other parties involved. You have regular internal consultation with your fellow claims handlers, but also with the brokers and (internal) account managers. Additionally, you regularly attend networking events.
At Howden, building and maintaining sustainable relationships with clients is central. Especially in the event of a claim, the customer experience is crucial, and you play an important role in that. With your knowledge and expertise, combined with providing a listening ear, you ensure a professional handling of every claim file.
What does your week look like approximately in this role? 40% Substantive assessment and handling of (complex) liability claims

The team and our organization As a Liability Claims Handler, you fulfill a key role within our Schade Zakelijk team. You work together with a group of driven professionals with a good mix of junior, medior, and senior colleagues. In this role, you are explicitly given the space to use your experience for the development of the team, including through coaching and substantive guidance. We work hybrid, meaning we are in the office an average of two to three days per week. In the office, we actively seek collaboration, brainstorm about complex files, and invest in knowledge sharing. Additionally, there is room for informal moments, and we attach great value to a good working atmosphere and mutual involvement.

What do you bring? To successfully perform your role at Howden, it helps to possess the following: Minimum HBO working and thinking level
In possession of WFT Schade Zakelijk, WFT Schade Particulier, and WFT Basis
10+ years of experience with liability discussions
Legal background is a plus
Curious and proactive
Persistent and sufficiently headstrong
Independent, accurate, and detail-oriented
Good at planning and flexible (also under pressure)
Good command of the English language in speech and writing (due to international relationships within the portfolio)
