JOB DESCRIPTION

As Engineering Manager, you will lead the engineering department (±5 employees: engineers, drafters, production planners, and purchasing) and bear ultimate responsibility for the technical design of steel and machine construction projects.

You combine hands-on engineering with a coaching and organizational role.

Your responsibilities

• Leading and coaching engineers and drafters: task distribution, follow-up, and quality control
• Acting as a technical sounding board and stimulating knowledge sharing within the team
• Translating customer requirements into innovative, manufacturable, and reliable solutions
• Breaking down complex projects into subsystems and determining make-or-buy
• Active customer contact from engineering, in consultation with management and sales
• Optimizing and structuring processes (e.g., workflows, standardization, drawing manual)
• Designing and developing 3D models, components, and assemblies
• Drafting technical specifications, calculations, and work instructions
• Performing quality reviews and monitoring technical correctness
• Collaborating closely with project management, production, and sales
• Reporting to the operational manager

PROFILE

• Master Industrial Engineer (or equivalent through experience)
• At least 7 years of relevant experience within machine building or mechanical engineering
• Strong knowledge of steel structures (required)
• Knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulics is a plus
• Experience or strong ambition in a leadership/coordinating role
• Coaching mindset and strong communication skills
• Technically strong and able to maintain an overview in complex projects
• Fluent in English; knowledge of German is an asset
