Senior Import Specialist (m/f/d) Ocean Freight, Customs & International Logistics

To independently manage and process our international import business, we are looking for an experienced Senior Import Specialist (m/f/d) – Ocean Freight, Customs & International Logistics. In this specialist position, you will take operational responsibility for our imports from Asia and ensure smooth processes from the seaports to our warehouses.

• Independent organization and booking of ocean freight imports from China and Asia
• Obtaining and negotiating ocean freight rates as well as selecting and managing freight forwarders
• Organization and calculation of the hinterland transport from the port of receipt to our warehouses via truck, rail, or barge
• Monitoring transports and coordinating container deliveries with the warehouses
• Carrying out customs clearance as well as issuing and monitoring customs instructions
• Classification of goods based on HS-Codes/tariff numbers and handling fiscal customs clearance
• Calculation of the complete import and procurement costs
• Daily communication with international suppliers, freight forwarders, ports, and authorities
• Depending on knowledge, taking on further topics such as Intrastat, CE certifications, packaging licenses (LUCID), and ERP master data maintenance

• Several years of practical professional experience in the import business with a focus on ocean freight and China/Asia
• Sound knowledge in container logistics as well as in managing hinterland transport
• Proven experience in cooperation and price negotiation with freight forwarders and logistics service providers
• Solid knowledge in import and customs clearance as well as an understanding of transport and landed costs
• Business fluent English for daily written and oral international communication
• Independent, structured way of working with the ability to find solutions independently in the event of logistical bottlenecks
• Confident handling of ERP systems (experience with Microsoft Dynamics NAV / Business Central is an advantage)
