Energy Surveyor/ DEA
Your tasks
About the Role The Renewables Surveyor will carry out residential customer surveys to assess the suitability of renewable heating and energy solutions, with a particular focus on air source heat pumps (ASHPs). The role will gather accurate property and heating-system information, complete heat loss calculations, and use survey findings to support appropriate system sizing and clear, technically sound customer proposals. The successful candidate will be DEA trained and confident assessing domestic properties, explaining recommendations and producing accurate survey records.
- Carry out residential site surveys to assess property suitability for renewable heating installations, particularly ASHPs.
- Complete room-by-room heat loss calculations and use the results to inform heat pump sizing and emitter requirements.
- Assess existing heating systems, including radiators, pipework, controls and hot-water arrangements, identifying any upgrades required.
- Record relevant property details, including dimensions, insulation, glazing, ventilation, access and potential equipment locations.
- Identify practical installation constraints and flag risks, remedial works or further technical checks before a proposal is finalised.
- Check that survey information and recommendations are accurate, complete and consistent with relevant technical requirements and company processes.
- Prepare clear survey reports, photographs, measurements and supporting documentation for design, quotation and installation teams.
- Explain survey findings and recommended works clearly and professionally to customers, answering questions within the scope of the role.
- Work closely with sales, design, installation and other relevant colleagues to resolve queries and support a smooth customer journey.
- Keep up to date with relevant renewable heating technologies, survey methods and applicable industry guidance.
Key Performance Indicators
- Accuracy and completeness of survey reports, measurements and heat loss calculations.
- Quality and timeliness of survey information provided to quotation, design and installation teams.
- Low level of avoidable survey-related errors, omissions or repeat visits.
- Compliance with company procedures and relevant technical requirements.
- Positive customer feedback and effective communication throughout the survey process.
What Success Looks Like Successful surveys give the business and customer a reliable understanding of the property, its heat demand and the work required to install a suitable renewable heating system. Heat loss calculations and recommendations are accurate, survey records are complete and delivered on time, potential issues are identified early, and customers receive clear, professional advice.
Requirements
Skills & ExperienceEssential*
