Must-have:Senior

If you’re an experienced Legal Cashier who knows the Solicitors’ Accounts Rules inside out, but you’re ready for a role with a bit more responsibility, this could be worth a conversation. This isn’t simply a case of processing transactions and reconciling bank accounts. You’ll work closely with the Finance Manager, help oversee the day-to-day running of the cashiering function and become a key point of contact for the wider firm when it comes to accounts, processes and compliance. You’ll also step up and keep things moving when the Finance Manager isn’t around. What will you be doing? There’s plenty of variety. You’ll oversee the day-to-day activities of the accounts team, making sure daily, monthly and quarterly tasks are allocated and completed accurately and on time. You’ll manage office and client accounts in accordance with the Solicitors’ Accounts Rules, including daily bank reconciliations, and ensure the firm’s ledgers and financial records are accurate and up to date. Compliance is naturally a big part of the role. You’ll help make sure the firm continues to meet its regulatory obligations, identify potential issues and escalate anything that needs attention to the appropriate people. Alongside the core cashiering work, you’ll support the Finance Manager with: Monthly and year-end accounts Budgeting and management information Credit control and overdue accounts WIP management Supplier payments and purchase ledger Financial reporting for the firm’s management team Developing and improving finance processes

You’ll also be someone the wider team can turn to. Whether that’s answering an accounts query, helping a colleague understand a process or supporting and training other members of the cashiering team. What are they looking for? You’ll need experience working within legal accounts and a strong working knowledge of the Solicitors’ Accounts Rules. Just as importantly, you’ll be comfortable taking ownership. You don’t necessarily need to be a Finance Manager already, but you should be at the stage where you’re happy supervising others, answering the more complicated queries and taking responsibility for the finance function when required. You’ll be organised, accurate and confident working with legal accounting systems and online banking, and you’ll understand why getting the detail right matters. Why consider it? It’s a senior, trusted position within an established firm where finance is viewed as an important part of the business rather than simply a back-office function. You’ll have the opportunity to work closely with the Finance Manager, broaden your exposure to management accounts, budgeting and reporting, and play a genuine part in how the finance team operates. So, if you’re an experienced Legal Cashier looking for that next step – without necessarily wanting to jump straight into a full Finance Manager position – this could be a very good move. You’ll also be offered an annual salary of up to £38k (depending on experience). Interested? Click “apply now”.
