The primary purpose of this position is: To serve as the Executive Support Specialist and primary administrative advisor to the Wing Commander, Vice Commander, and Command Chief.

Major duties

Serves as a key administrative advisor to Wing leadership, providing analytical support and programmatic oversight to evaluate and adapt administrative processes. Functions as the Project Officer and central director for all Wing Commander-mandated initiatives and executivelevel planning efforts. Governs the review of higher-level taskings from the NAF, MAJCOM, and Air Staff, independently determining optimal courses of action and executing rigorous quality control for all Wing-level executive responses Directs the executive scheduling and logistics, exercising delegated authority to prioritize commitments based on shifting mission requirements and Wing leadership priorities.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-09, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes: (1) Working with administrative analysis and problem-solving techniques to evaluate staff processes, interpret administrative data, and develop recommendations to improve the efficiency of executive support operations; (2) Working with administrative structures, staff roles, and command channels of the Organization and higher-echelon Air Force/DoD organizations to effectively coordinate executive taskings and provide administrative advisory services; and (3) Working with advanced executive support systems and software (e.g., MS Office Suite, SharePoint, Defense Travel System) to manage complex scheduling, coordinate executive travel, generate data-driven reports, and facilitate high-visibility logistics. OR EDUCATION: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or LL.M which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, if related. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. NOTE: You must submit a copy of transcripts FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-09 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-11 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of administrative analysis and problem-solving techniques to evaluate staff processes, interpret administrative data, and develop recommendations to improve the efficiency of Wing executive support operations. Knowledge of the administrative structures, staff roles, and command channels of the Wing and higher-echelon Air Force/DoD organizations to effectively coordinate executive taskings and provide administrative advisory services. Knowledge of administrative rules and skill in using executive support systems (e.g., MS Office, SharePoint, DTS) to manage complex scheduling, executive travel, and high-visibility logistics. Skill in written and verbal communication to prepare clear, concise, and accurate reports, briefings, and correspondence for senior leaders and external stakeholders. Skill in planning and managing short and long-term projects and initiatives, including the ability to identify resources, track milestones, and resolve program shortfalls. Ability to exercise independent judgment and use tact and diplomacy to build successful cross-functional teams and resolve complex problems impacting the command mission. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
