Risk Engineer - Process Engineering (m/f/d) (Risk Analyst (Insurance))

Your Tasks

• Conducting Risk Engineering inspections in process and heavy industries, particularly in the fields of chemistry, petrochemistry, steel, and cement, from construction and commissioning to ongoing operation
• Identification, assessment, and transparent presentation of technical risks, as well as derivation of practical recommendations for loss prevention
• Development and implementation of effective loss prevention measures and support in building sustainable risk management processes at the customer level
• Assessment of loss potential according to HRC guidelines and support for Underwriters in the technical risk assessment of complex industrial plants
• Conducting desktop reviews of external risk reports upon request from Underwriters
• Monitoring technical developments, new technologies, and Emerging Risks in the process and heavy industries
• Participation in the development and implementation of HRC standards, guidelines, and Risk Engineering tools
• Development and implementation of training for customers, Underwriters, and the claims department

Your Profile

• Completed degree in engineering, ideally at Master's or PhD level, preferably in Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a comparable field
• At least 7 years of professional experience with large-scale plants in the chemistry, petrochemistry, steel, cement, or comparable industries - alternatively relevant experience as a Risk Engineer in the insurance industry with a focus on process or heavy industry
• Sound knowledge of the operation, maintenance, and technical assessment of process technology plants
• Good understanding of international safety and industry standards
• International experience or enjoyment of working with different cultures and specialist departments
• Curiosity and fundamental interest in digital developments, including Artificial Intelligence and its application possibilities in Risk Engineering
• Strong customer orientation, consulting competence, and the ability to communicate complex technical issues clearly and appropriately to the target audience
• High self-motivation, very good communication and teamwork skills, as well as an independent and structured way of working
• Very good English skills, at least C1 level; knowledge of other foreign languages is an advantage
