Temp School Caretaker

School Caretaker Sunderland Full-Time Temporary until Christmas 2026, with the potential to become permanent in the New Year

A school in Sunderland is seeking a reliable and proactive School Caretaker to join their site team on a full-time basis. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with strong maintenance and site management skills who are looking to make a positive impact within an educational environment. The role is initially a temporary assignment through to Christmas, with the potential to become a permanent position for the right candidate

Key Responsibilities

• Opening and closing the school premises each day.
• Carrying out routine maintenance, repairs, and health and safety checks.
• Ensuring the school site is safe, secure, clean, and well-maintained.
• Managing contractors and supporting site projects where required.
• Undertaking basic DIY tasks, including painting, minor repairs, and general upkeep.
• Responding promptly to maintenance issues and site-related requests.
• Supporting with room setups and school events.
• Monitoring and maintaining site security procedures.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

• Previous caretaker, facilities, maintenance, or site management experience.
• School-based experience is desirable but not essential.
• Good practical maintenance and DIY skills.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
• The ability to work independently and prioritise workloads effectively.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• A flexible and proactive approach to work.

Essential Requirements

An Enhanced DBS Certificate on the Update Service is ESSENTIAL for this role. Applicants must be available to start immediately.
