Interim Strategic HR Business Partner
Location: West Midlands, hybrid working Day rate: £500-£550 per day Contract: Interim
We are recruiting an experienced Strategic HR Business Partner to join a large public sector organisation in the West Midlands. This senior role will provide strategic people, culture and organisational development leadership, supporting senior stakeholders through significant transformation, service redesign and workforce change.
The role
You will act as a trusted adviser to executive and senior leaders, translating organisational priorities into practical workforce strategies and solutions. Working closely with HR and organisational development specialists, you will:
- Lead strategic workforce planning, organisational design and transformation activity.
- Advise and challenge senior leaders on complex and high-risk people matters.
- Use workforce data and analytics to identify trends, risks and future requirements.
- Support cultural change, leadership development and organisational improvement.
- Coordinate support across organisational development, workforce planning, talent acquisition and policy teams.
- Build effective relationships with senior leaders, trade unions, elected members and external partners.
- Ensure workforce decisions are evidence-based, legally compliant and aligned with organisational priorities.
About you
You will have:
- Significant experience as an HR Business Partner or in an equivalent strategic HR role.
- A strong track record of delivering large-scale organisational change and transformation.
- Experience influencing senior leaders within a complex organisation.
- Expertise in workforce planning, organisational design and people strategy.
- Strong knowledge of UK employment legislation and HR best practice.
- The ability to interpret workforce data and turn insight into clear recommendations.
- Excellent influencing, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
- A degree-level qualification or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience within local government, the wider public sector or another complex regulated environment would be advantageous.
