Stock Controller

Hays are delighted to be recruiting for a Stock Controller on behalf of a leading manufacturing business in South Wales. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing organisation that has invested heavily in its operations and continues to expand across its manufacturing facilities.

Working closely with the Stock Accountant and operational teams, you will play a key role in maintaining stock accuracy, improving inventory processes, and ensuring robust controls are in place across the entire supply chain operation. Your new role

As Stock Controller, you will be responsible for ensuring stock is accurately managed and accounted for throughout the full material flow process, from goods receipt through production and dispatch, including third-party warehouse locations.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Leading and coordinating monthly stock takes, including reconciliation of physical inventory to ERP records.
• Conducting daily and weekly cycle counts and investigating stock variances.
• Monitoring stock movements and ensuring accurate recording and reporting.
• Validating delivery notes against ERP records and resolving discrepancies.
• Supporting BOM and item master data accuracy across the site.
• Analysing inventory data and developing reports to improve stock control and visibility.
• Identifying process non-conformances and driving corrective actions.
• Acting as the main finance contact for stock-related queries.
• Supporting month-end stock reconciliations and audit requirements.
• Maintaining stock control procedures and ensuring compliance with company standards.
• Working closely with production, warehouse and finance teams to improve inventory accuracy and operational efficiency.

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Previous experience within a Stock Controller, Inventory Controller or similar stock-focused position.
• Experience within a manufacturing, warehouse or production environment.
• Strong Excel skills, including data analysis, reporting and manipulation of large datasets.
• Experience using ERP/MRP systems.
• Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong communication skills and confidence engaging with stakeholders at all levels.
• The ability to challenge processes constructively and drive improvements.
• A proactive and hands-on approach.
• Experience delivering training or coaching colleagues would be advantageous.
