Your new company

A well-established and growing organisation is looking to appoint an experienced Payroll Administrator on a part-time basis. This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a busy payroll function responsible for delivering accurate, compliant and customer-focused service. The role offers hybrid working, with two days per week in the office. You will work 25 hours from Monday to Friday, completing five hours per day.

Your new role

In your new role as Payroll Officer, you will be working closely with the Payroll and Benefits Manager and will support the accurate and timely processing of the monthly payroll for over 1000 employees. Your responsibilities will include processing starters, leavers, contractual changes, salary amendments, additional payments and deductions. You will administer statutory payments and leave, including SSP, SMP, SPP and ShPP, as well as supporting pension administration, auto-enrolment assessments, opt-ins and opt-outs. You will prepare and validate payroll data, complete accuracy checks, assist with payroll reconciliations and post-payroll reporting, and investigate any discrepancies. The position will also involve maintaining accurate and confidential employee records, issuing payroll documentation such as P45s, supporting year-end activities and helping to process employee benefits through payroll.

What you'll need to succeed

You will have previous payroll administration experience gained within a busy payroll environment. Experience supporting a medium or large employee payroll would be beneficial, alongside a good working knowledge of UK payroll legislation, including PAYE, National Insurance, statutory payments and workplace pensions. You will be highly accurate and organised, with the ability to manage deadlines and changing priorities. Strong Excel skills are required, including formulas, lookups and pivot tables, together with confidence using payroll or HR systems.

What you'll get in return

In return for this, you will be offered a full time equivalent salary of £30,000 alongside a range of benefits including 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, hybrid working and westfield healthcare cashplan. You will join a supportive team and gain varied exposure across payroll, benefits and annual reward activity. The role also provides the opportunity to improve payroll processes and help build capability within an evolving function.
