Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer
Your new company
You will be joining an established packaging and recycling business that provides sustainable solutions including reconditioning, reuse, recycling and responsible disposal. The company operates production lines and facilities focused on delivering sustainable packaging solutions to customers.
Your new role
This is a newly created Maintenance Technician / Supervisor position where you will combine hands-on maintenance work with responsibility for overseeing machinery and ensuring the site is ready for production.
Your daily duties will include responding to breakdowns, completing planned preventative maintenance, conducting machinery walk-arounds and ensuring equipment is maintained to a high standard. You will work on shredders, conveyors, high-pressure pumps, motors and water-washing systems, alongside basic welding, fabrication and minor electrical work. You will also support the installation and setup of new production lines and equipment. This is a practical, hands-on role within a traditional engineering environment. You will be trusted to identify faults, establish what needs repairing and take the initiative without being given a daily task list. Site management will be available for support, but you will be expected to manage your workload independently and help keep production running effectively.
What you'll need to succeed
You will need a strong mechanical maintenance background, ideally supported by a relevant mechanical qualification. Previous experience maintaining production machinery, pumps, conveyors, shredders, hydraulic systems or similar equipment would be highly beneficial.
You should be comfortable working autonomously, diagnosing faults and taking ownership of breakdowns and maintenance requirements. Good practical problem-solving skills, welding experience and a strong understanding of general maintenance processes are required. Basic electrical knowledge would be beneficial, while PLC experience would be an additional advantage. Above all, you will be proactive, reliable and confident enough to hit the ground running in a hands-on environment.
What you'll get in return
You will receive a permanent position with a salary that is open for discussion depending on your skills and experience. Both part-time and full-time working arrangements can be considered.
The business can offer flexibility around working hours, with typical hours of 8:00am to 5:30pm. Alternative hours such as 6:00am to 3:00pm may also be considered to ensure the machinery is ready for production, with occasional Saturday work where required. This is an opportunity to take ownership of the maintenance function, combine technical work with supervisory responsibility and make a visible impact on site operations.
