This is an excellent opportunity to join a values-led organisation that plays a vital role in supporting local communities, while leading a high-performing finance function through a key reporting cycle.

Your new role

Reporting to the Finance Director, you will lead a team of four finance professionals and take ownership of all financial reporting, statutory accounts and technical accounting activities. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the production of annual statutory accounts and ensuring compliance with all relevant accounting and regulatory requirements.
  • Managing the organisation's financial reporting framework, controls and governance processes.
  • Providing technical accounting expertise and guidance to the wider finance team.
  • Overseeing financial reporting, balance sheet integrity, reconciliations and month-end processes.
  • Supporting forecasting, budgeting and longer-term financial planning activities.
  • Managing relationships with auditors and key external stakeholders.
  • Driving continuous improvement across financial reporting processes, systems and controls.
  • Leading, mentoring and developing a team of four finance professionals.

This is a hybrid role, with approximately one day per week required onsite in the Manchester Office. The appointment is initially to cover maternity leave, with additional cover required to support holidays and a smooth handover period.

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in this role, you will be a fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with significant experience operating within a financial reporting, technical accounting or statutory reporting environment. You will also demonstrate:

  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and experience preparing statutory accounts.
  • Previous leadership experience managing and developing finance teams.
  • Expertise in financial controls, governance and compliance.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • The ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment and provide clear financial insight to senior leaders.
  • Experience within social housing, housing associations or wider public sector organisations would be highly advantageous.
  • Exposure to service charge accounting would be beneficial but not essential.

What you'll get in return

  • Salary up to £91,500 plus benefits.
  • Hybrid working with just one day per week onsite.
  • Opportunity to join a highly respected organisation with a strong social purpose.
  • Exposure to senior leadership and strategic decision-making.
  • Immediate opportunity to make a positive impact within an established finance team.
