Hays Accountancy & Finance are exclusively partnering with a global manufacturing group based near Leominster, Herefordshire, to recruit a driven and commercially minded Costing & Stock Accountant. This permanent opportunity will sit within the accounting team and report directly to the Costing & Stock Manager. The successful candidate will support a broad range of finance activities, including inventory management reporting, monthly reconciliations, standard costing processes, and wider month-end support. The role offers genuine future progression, a study support package towards a finance qualification such as ACCA, CIMA or AAT, hybrid working and a competitive benefits package. Previous experience in manufacturing, stock control or costing processes would be advantageous, but is not essential. Applications are welcomed from finance professionals currently studying towards a recognised qualification, as well as candidates who are qualified by experience.

Your new role

Key duties will include carrying out monthly inventory audits across multiple sites within the group, covering raw materials, finished goods and spare parts, while ensuring inventory records are accurately maintained within the finance system. You will support the maintenance and improvement of month-end processes, including provisions and aged stock reporting, as well as carrying out analysis of inventory processes to help enhance reporting accuracy and efficiency. You will also conduct inventory checks, provide purchase price analysis, produce overhead calculations, prepare costing analysis, set up bills of materials and complete weekly and monthly variance analysis across the production process. In addition, you will provide support to the Costing & Stock Manager and the wider finance team, contributing to ad-hoc projects and duties as required.

What you'll need to succeed

To be considered for this fast-paced Costing & Stock Accountant role, you will need experience within an accounting role, with a good understanding of month-end processes. You will be highly organised and detail-focused, with the ability to work independently as well as part of a wider team. Strong Microsoft Excel skills, knowledge of financial systems and the ability to manage workloads effectively to meet deadlines, along with an adaptable approach to changing business needs. You will be willing to learn and will have strong communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships both internally and externally at all levels. Ideally, you will be studying towards completion of CIMA, ACCA, or AAT, although candidates qualified by experience will also be considered. Experience within the manufacturing sector, with knowledge of costing and stock processes, as well as SAP experience, would be advantageous but is not essential.
