Client Side Building Surveyor

Job Purpose

Client-side Building Surveyor opportunity based in Cheshire. Your role is to support the Building Surveying team in delivering a range of surveying, inspection, project management, dilapidation, contract administration services and maintenance projects across the commercial sector. The role involves assisting with site inspections, preparing reports, monitoring project progress, ensuring compliance with regulations, and maintaining excellent client relationships.This position offers an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual looking to develop a career in building surveying with support offered towards professional qualifications. The role would suit someone with 3-5 years' experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with building inspections and condition surveys.
• Record building defects and identify potential maintenance requirements.
• Assist in preparing schedules of condition, dilapidations, and specifications.
• Support the delivery of maintenance projects.
• Assist with preparing project documentation, specifications, and tender information.
• Monitor project progress and report on programme performance.
• Attend site meetings and contribute to project discussions.
• Liaise with contractors, suppliers, consultants, and clients.
• Assist with administering construction contracts.
• Review contractor applications, insurance valuations, and variations.
• Support the preparation of project cost reports.
• Monitor contract compliance and quality standards.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and company policies.
• Monitor works to ensure compliance with Building Regulations, planning requirements, and industry standards.
• Promote a positive health and safety culture across all projects.
• Prepare technical reports, schedules, and project updates.
• Maintain accurate project records and documentation.
• Produce survey reports using appropriate software and systems.
• Build and maintain professional relationships with clients.
• Respond to client enquiries in a professional and timely manner.
• Support the delivery of excellent customer service throughout project life cycles.

Essential Qualifications

• Degree, HNC, HND, or equivalent qualification in Building Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
• Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable Qualifications

• Membership or working towards membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
• Required to have or achieve a CSCS Card.

Knowledge & Experience

• Understanding of construction methods and building technology.
• Knowledge of Building Regulations and construction legislation.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Competent in Microsoft Office applications.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Dilapidation experience

Desirable

• Previous experience in a building surveying or construction environment.
• Experience of maintenance projects.
• Familiarity with contract administration processes.
• Experience using AutoCAD or surveying software.
