Head of Data Platform

Up to £120,000 London | Hybrid Working

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a major UK financial services organisation and take ownership of a large-scale enterprise data transformation. You'll have the chance to define the future data platform strategy, build a high-performing team, and deliver a modern cloud-based data capability from the ground up.

THE COMPANY:

Our client is a large-scale, purpose-led financial services organisation responsible for managing data and services that support millions of customers across the UK. The business is investing heavily in data, analytics, and technology capabilities as part of an ambitious transformation programme. With executive sponsorship, significant funding already approved, and a genuine greenfield opportunity, this role offers the chance to shape the future of data within a highly regulated environment.

They are building a modern enterprise data platform to support analytics, reporting, automation, and customer insight at scale.

THE ROLE:

You will take ownership of the design, build, and delivery of a modern enterprise data platform, leading the migration from legacy data environments to ascalable, secure cloud-based architecture.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Defining and delivering the enterprise data platform strategy and architecture.
  • Building, scaling, and leading a high-performing data engineering and platform team.
  • Driving cloud migration and platform modernisation initiatives.
  • Managing strategic technology partners and suppliers.
  • Establishing robust governance, security, compliance, and data quality standards.
  • Developing a long-term operating model for data engineering, analytics, and governance.
  • Overseeing migration of reporting and analytics products onto the new platform.
  • Decommissioning legacy systems and delivering measurable business outcomes.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

You will bring strong capability in:

  • Delivering enterprise-scale cloud data platforms from the ground up.
  • Leading large, multi-disciplinary data engineering organisations and managing managers.
  • Operating within regulated environments
  • Cloud-based data architecture
  • Data platform design, governance, security, and compliance.
  • Stakeholder management at Director and executive level.
  • Third-party supplier and systems integrator management

THE BENEFITS:
