Finance & Operations Manager

Finance & Operations Manager Harmonic are partnering with a profitable, privately owned technology business to hire a Finance & Operations Manager. This is a hands-on role with real ownership, a supportive Director of Finance & Operations invested in your development, and genuine flexibility, with just one day a week in the office. The Client A profitable, privately owned technology business working in the sports and data space, built by a small, highly technical team. The business is self-funded and growing quickly, with headcount set to more than double this year, and finance and operations is now being built out to support that growth. The culture is relaxed and trusting: people are given ownership and left to manage their own schedules. The Role This is a hands-on Finance & Operations Manager role, owning the core back-office function day to day with external bookkeepers and accountants for support. It covers month-end, reconciliations, reporting, year-end, VAT, accounts payable and payroll, plus the operations side, including onboarding, benefits and insurance. Why This Role Report directly to an experienced Director of Finance & Operations who is invested in your development and will give you real exposure to how the whole function runs Clear progression as the business scales, with scope to grow into FP&A and business partnering Freedom to modernise how things are done, starting with choosing and rolling out a new expense management system Broader experience across finance and operations, building a more commercial profile What You Will Own Month end with the external bookkeepers and accountants, balance sheet reconciliations and financial reporting Intercompany accounting, including reconciliations and recharges across the group Year end, VAT returns and tax efficiencies, working with external accountants and advisors Accounts payable end to end, monthly payroll and statutory submissions such as P11Ds Finance systems and controls, starting with selecting and rolling out a new expense management system Automated workflows and people operations, including onboarding, benefits and insurance renewals What We Are Looking For Part-qualified or fully qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA Industry experience in a startup or scale-up, ideally in a small, hands-on finance team Comfortable owning projects end to end Real examples of using technology or AI to improve a process Operations experience alongside finance, and familiarity with Xero, Slack or Zapier, a plus The Package Salary: £60,000 - £70,000 plus generous bonus.
