Legal Cashier

We are partnering with a prominent and recognised West Midlands law firm to recruit an experienced Legal Cashier to join its busy Finance team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience working within a legal finance environment who is looking to develop their career within a supportive and collaborative team. You will need to be highly organised, comfortable working in a busy environment and have excellent attention to detail, together with a good understanding of Solicitors' Accounts Rules.

The role is primarily office based and offers the opportunity to become an integral part of an established Finance function.

Key responsibilities

The role will involve a broad range of legal cashiering duties, including:

• Processing client receipts and payments and accurately allocating transactions to client ledgers
• Monitoring banking and preparing daily banking requirements
• Posting receipts and payments to the appropriate ledgers
• Producing regular new matter reports for internal teams
• Preparing electronic payments and obtaining the appropriate authorisations
• Processing and issuing cheques in line with the firm's procedures
• Preparing client ledger and time breakdowns for clients
• Reviewing completion statements
• Processing client invoices through the firm's case management system
• Checking purchase ledger invoices and assisting with payment runs
• Providing cover and support across the Finance team when required
• Assisting the Finance Manager with wider finance and cashiering duties as necessary

About you

You will ideally have 2–3 years' experience in a similar legal cashiering role within a law firm, together with a sound working knowledge of Solicitors' Accounts Rules.

You will also bring:

• Excellent organisational and communication skills
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Good IT skills, including confidence using Excel
• The ability to explain financial information clearly
• The ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
• A calm and methodical approach when working under pressure
• A collaborative approach and willingness to support colleagues
