At Harbor of Health Home Care Services, the people we hire are everything. We are looking for a dedicated HR professional to own our recruitment and people processes in this part-time role, finding and supporting the caregivers who provide essential care to our clients.

*HR Responsibilities*

  • *Job Postings:* Write and manage job listings on Indeed and other platforms to attract people who actually care about the work, not just the paycheque.
  • *Inquiry Management:* Answer incoming phone calls and field questions related to hiring, employment opportunities, and application statuses.
  • *System Navigation:* Work confidently within our company software systems to maintain accurate HR and employee records.
  • *Interviewing & Selection:* Review applications and conduct interviews with a focus on fit, values, and reliability.
  • *Onboarding Experience:* Guide new hires through onboarding so their first experience with us is a great one.
  • *Documentation & Contracts:* Manage employment onboarding paperwork, including offer letters, contracts, and tax forms.
  • *Benefits Administration:* Coordinate benefits enrollment documents and ensure new hires complete them on time.
  • *Policy Management:* Maintain and communicate company policies, the employee handbook, and the code of conduct.
  • *Compliance:* Handle compliance and legal documentation to keep us aligned with employment regulations.
  • *Payroll Setup:* Process payroll setup forms and ensure accurate, timely payment for all staff.
  • *Background Checks:* Conduct background checks and maintain verification records.
  • *Time-Off Management:* Manage time-off requests, ensuring they're approved fairly.
  • *Employee Relations:* Support current staff through questions, concerns, and day-to-day HR matters.
  • *Process Improvement:* Help build and improve the people systems that keep everything running as we grow.

*Schedule & Location*

  • *Part-Time Schedule:* Three days a week (daytime hours).
  • *Location:* On-site at our Edmonton office, with occasional local travel to our facilities to support staff or conduct in-person onboarding.

*Skills & Qualifications*

  • A degree or diploma in Human Resources, or meaningful equivalent experience.
  • Hands-on recruitment and onboarding experience ? you've done this, not just read about it.
  • Previous experience in home care, continuing care, or a related healthcare setting is a strong asset.
  • Comfortable learning and using various digital platforms, including HR databases and Indeed.
  • Familiarity with Alberta employment standards and HR best practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English ? this role writes offer letters, policies, and job postings, so a high standard of clarity is essential.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust with caregivers and colleagues.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities across recruitment, onboarding, and staff support.
