*Job Overview*

We are seeking an energetic, detail-oriented, and experienced *Financial Controller, Canada* to lead our financial operations. This position is responsible for leading the accounting and financial reporting functions for Hammond Manufacturing?s Canadian legal entities while ensuring the integrity of financial information, compliance with regulatory requirements, and effective internal controls.

The Financial Controller, Canada will oversee the Guelph accounting team and lead the monthly and annual financial close processes. This role plays a key part in ensuring accurate, timely, and reliable financial reporting while supporting business objectives and continuous improvement initiatives.

*Salary Range: $100,000?$150,000 per year*

*Key Responsibilities*

*Financial Reporting & Accounting*

• Lead accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and account reconciliations.
• Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
• Prepare and review monthly and quarterly management financial reports.
• Execute closing procedures, post journal entries, and perform variance analysis.
• Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of financial information.
• Maintain compliance with applicable accounting standards, including IFRS.

*Financial Controls & Compliance*

• Maintain effective internal controls and accounting policies and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with tax, regulatory, and statutory reporting requirements.
• Oversee government reporting and regulatory filings.
• Coordinate and support annual external audits and internal audit activities.
• Ensure adherence to applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.

*Cash Management & Treasury*

• Monitor group cash requirements and support effective cash management.
• Assist with cash flow forecasting and related financial analysis.

*Leadership & Team Management*

• Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team.
• Establish departmental goals and performance expectations.
• Foster collaboration across departments.
• Promote continuous improvement, process automation, and professional development.

*Systems & Process Improvement*

• Ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial data within ERP and reporting systems.
• Support digital transformation and financial systems initiatives.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and reduce manual work.
• Support the use of business intelligence and reporting tools to improve financial decision-making.

*Risk Management*

• Identify financial and operational risks.
• Recommend and assist with the implementation of appropriate mitigation strategies.
• Ensure adherence to financial governance and internal control requirements.

*QualificationsEducation*

• Degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• CPA designation or CPA finalist preferred.

*Experience*

• *5?10 years of related accounting and finance experience.*
• Experience in a financial leadership or controllership role.
• Experience managing financial reporting and month-end/year-end close processes.
• Experience coordinating or managing external audits.
• Experience with ERP systems, preferably Sage.
• Experience overseeing accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and account reconciliations.
