Marine Engineer

Hales Group are delighted to be recruiting for an experienced Marine Engineer to join a well-established marine engineering and boatbuilding company based in Great Yarmouth.

Your tasks

Reporting to the Department Manager, you will be responsible for carrying out maintenance, repair, installation and overhaul work on a variety of marine vessels and equipment. Duties will range from minor component replacements through to the removal and installation of engines, gearboxes, propulsion systems and associated ancillary equipment. You will work closely with colleagues across the site to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently and to the highest standards.

• General Vessel maintenance, inspection and repairs servicing of parts
• Engine Changes, Potential engine rebuilding and testing (Engine types include: (MTU, MAN and Volvo Penta CAT Scania)
• Gearbox changes (including Twindisc and Servogear)
• Be familiar with Prop Jet CPP IPS drive trains.
• Fault Finding and repairs of the vessel.

Requirements

• Demonstrate previous experience in a marine engineer role
• Previous experience working on high-speed engines
• Ability to complete diagnostic checks and in-depth fault finding
• Excellent team player and a proactive mentality
• Strong problem solving and organizational skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Full valid driving license

Desirable

• Experience with MTU and Volvo Cat Scania etc
• L3 Diploma/ NVQ Engineering or Equivalent
• Previous Experience in a Marine related role
