Job Responsibilities:

  • Serve wholesale buyers and fishmongers at the stall counter during night-shift trading hours, taking bulk orders and confirming quantities, sizes and grades
  • Build and maintain repeat business with regular wholesale customers through reliable service and consistent stock availability
  • Negotiate prices with wholesale buyers within set margins, and close sales quickly during peak overnight volume
  • Inspect incoming seafood deliveries for freshness, weight and quality before offering stock for sale
  • Manage stock rotation, icing and storage to keep seafood fresh throughout the shift
  • Track daily sales, stock levels and wastage, and report shortfalls or quality issues
  • Coordinate with team members to ensure orders are packed and paid
  • Follow food safety, hygiene and NEA wet market regulations at all times
  • Keep the stall, weighing scales and display area clean and organised for the next shift

Job Requirements:

  • Prior experience in a wet market, seafood wholesale, or fishmonger trade is strongly preferred
  • Working knowledge of seafood species, grading, sizing and seasonal pricing
  • Strong sales and negotiation skills, with the confidence to deal with experienced wholesale buyers
  • Good numeracy for weighing and pricing
  • Physically fit and able to stand, lift and work in a wet market environment for extended periods
  • Reliable and punctual, able to commit to overnight hours on a fixed schedule
  • Basic spoken English and/or Mandarin/dialect is an advantage for dealing with a mixed trade customer base
  • Night shift, typically running from around midnight to early morning (exact hours to align with wholesale trading peak at the market)
  • Able to work on public holidays and Saturdays
