Postdoc in e-health/services

The Faculty of Health and Social Sciences, Center for Care Research, West (SOFV) has a vacant three-year fixed-term position as a postdoc related to the theme area e-health/services.
The postdoc position will be closely linked to broad interdisciplinary collaboration on e-health and service development across research environments at all three faculties at HVL and the research group Technology, Health and Society. The postdoc work shall focus on exploring and developing solutions for digital home monitoring for frail elderly people with extensive assistance needs in municipal health and care services. Examples of central research themes are digital infrastructure (possibly its development), organizational context, materiality, aesthetics, and surroundings. Collaboration with one or more municipalities and private suppliers will be established.
A research team of experienced researchers has been established based on HVL's interdisciplinary focus on digital health and co-creation of future e-health solutions, with broad collaboration with international researchers from, among others, Canada, the Netherlands, and the USA. The research team will function as a support and resource for the postdoc project.
The postdoc project is based on a concept of co-creation in line with HVL's strategic goals of close collaboration with society and working life. The project will be able to collaborate with users, professionals, decision-makers, and industry to develop solutions for better health services for elderly people living at home, where technological solutions can be an integrated part of the services.
The postdoc project will collaborate with researchers from health, engineering, social sciences, and humanities. It is expected that the postdoc will participate actively in the interdisciplinary research group Technology, Health and Society.
Desired start date is no later than December 1, 2026.
The place of work is at Campus Haugesund, Campus Førde, or Campus Bergen at SOFV in Alrek Helseklynge.
Some presence at Campus Bergen at Alrek Helseklynge must be expected.
Responsibilities and work areas
- Planning and conducting research work related to the exploration and development of new solutions for digital home monitoring for frail elderly people with extensive assistance needs in municipal health and care services
- Developing own research questions and theoretical and analytical frameworks for the research work
- Coordinating and conducting data establishment and analyses
- Producing and presenting research in the form of articles, conference contributions, and seminar activities
- Contributing to the research group's activities
It is expected that the postdoc is the author or co-author of at least three point-earning publications during the postdoc period.
Qualifications
Criteria for employment in the position of postdoc are set out in the Regulations to the University and College Act (Universitets- og høyskoleforskriften).
Applicants must have obtained a Norwegian doctorate, or equivalent education abroad, and can have a background in social sciences, engineering, humanities, or social/health sciences. The dissertation must be submitted for assessment before the application deadline, and it must be approved before employment can take place. The person employed must work in accordance with the progress plan and organization outlined in the project description.
No more than 8 years may have passed since the defense (disputas).
Academic qualifications:
- Academic qualifications within the advertised area, with main emphasis on the quality of the doctoral dissertation and other scientific work
- Knowledge of health and care services in Norway and the e-health field
- Must have good language skills in English, both oral and written
Desired qualifications
- Experience from interdisciplinary research collaboration and grant writing
- Broad methodological competence and experience
- Proficiency in Norwegian or another Scandinavian language
Personal qualities:
- Good ability for independent and systematic work and thinking, critical reflection
- Good collaboration and communication skills
- Ability to take initiative and responsibility
Language requirements
If the employee does not have skills in Norwegian, Swedish, or Danish at level A2 upon employment, the institution shall offer free Norwegian language training with the aim of achieving Norwegian skills at a minimum of this level.
Educational competence
Educational competence is a requirement in all teaching and research positions.
If the applicant does not already have utdanningsfaglig kompetanse that meets the requirements for a position as Associate Professor, HVL shall facilitate that competence is achieved during the period of employment.
Pedagogical competence is documented by a pedagogical portfolio and a pedagogical CV.
Career plan
The person employed shall, in collaboration with the Center for Care Research, West, develop a career plan that specifies the competence the postdoc shall acquire. Competence goals shall be set both for the postdoc project and potentially other career-promoting work added to the position. The postdoc will have access to career guidance.
Other career-promoting work may, for example, include teaching and teaching-related work, acquisition of Norwegian language skills and educational competence, contributions to research communities, collaboration with public or private actors, and more.
The purpose of a postdoc position is that the employee shall acquire a researcher profile and competence that makes them qualified to apply for a position as Associate Professor. The position can in addition provide other competence relevant to the postdoc's further career.

Center for Care Research, West (SOFV) is an interdisciplinary research center at Høgskulen på Vestlandet.
