A cash clerk is responsible for handling daily financial transactions, processing payments, and maintaining accurate records of incoming and outgoing funds

  • Transaction Processing: Handle cash, check, and credit card payments, issue receipts, and operate point-of-sale (POS) systems or cash registers.
  • Reconciliation and Balancing: Count money at the start and end of shifts, balance tills or cash drawers, and reconcile daily cash receipts with financial records.
  • Banking and Deposits: Prepare deposit slips and securely transport or coordinate daily bank deposits.
  • Record Keeping: Update cash books, manage petty cash files, and draft financial reports or logs using spreadsheets or accounting software.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Education: Typically requires a high school diploma or completion of at least two years of college studies in business, accounting, or a related field. • Skills: Strong basic math and numeracy skills, keen attention to detail, and proficiency in office tools like MS Excel and basic accounting software.
