About the company

At Graylight Imaging, we create advanced technologies and conduct research and development work. In this project, you will support a client from the USA in the geosciences field, developing AWS infrastructure.

Your tasks

About the project: You will design and develop AWS infrastructure supporting demanding computational tasks, including parallel processing using CPU and GPU. This is a project where solid cloud engineering foundations, automation, and independently proposing solutions matter.

  • designing, implementing, and maintaining AWS infrastructure for client projects in the geosciences field;
  • automating the build and configuration of infrastructure as code (IaC) using Terraform and CloudFormation;
  • designing and configuring AWS Batch jobs, queues, and job definitions for parallel computational workloads;
  • selecting and optimizing EC2 resources, including CPU-, GPU-, and memory-optimized instances;
  • configuring S3 buckets and secure access to files and folders, including between AWS accounts;
  • building and maintaining container environments using Docker, ECR, and ECS;
  • developing and managing solutions using PostgreSQL and DynamoDB databases;
  • configuring job queuing and processing using SQS and Launch Templates, as well as email/SNS notifications regarding job completion or errors;
  • creating dashboards and monitoring covering job runs, service and instance usage, execution time, and costs, using CloudWatch and Athena;
  • designing and maintaining secure network configurations and AWS permissions, including VPC, subnets, Security Groups, VPC Endpoints, and permission boundaries;
  • implementing and supporting solutions in DEV, TEST, and PROD accounts and collaborating with the client's IT teams to resolve issues;
  • analyzing user requirements, preparing documentation in Azure DevOps Wiki and Excel, translating needs into technical solutions, and advising on architecture and further development.

Requirements

Who are we looking for? We are looking for an AWS Cloud Solutions Architect to join our team. On a daily basis, you will collaborate with a client from the USA and teams responsible for cloud operations, cybersecurity, networking, storage, compute, and software development.

Tech stack

  • AWS: AWS Batch, S3, EC2, CloudWatch, Athena, SQS, SNS,
  • Infrastructure as Code: Terraform, CloudFormation; additionally Python CDK,
  • Python,
  • Containers: Docker, ECR, ECS,
  • Databases: PostgreSQL, DynamoDB,
  • Azure DevOps: repositories, Terraform pipelines, Wiki,
  • AWS Security and Networking: VPC, subnets, Security Groups, VPC Endpoints, permission boundaries,
  • Additional assets will be knowledge of C++, Angular or React, API Gateway, and Kiro/Microsoft Copilot tools.

What do we expect from you?

  • practical experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining AWS environments and independence adequate to an architect level;
  • good knowledge of AWS Batch, including queues and job definitions;
  • knowledge of EC2 instance types, including CPU-, GPU-, and memory-optimized, and parallel processing principles;
  • practical knowledge of Terraform and the Infrastructure as Code (IaC) approach;
  • knowledge of CloudFormation; Python CDK will be an additional asset;
  • good knowledge of Python, including creating scripts to automate the deployment and operation of AWS services;
  • very good knowledge of AWS security and networking mechanisms: VPC, subnets, Security Groups, VPC Endpoints, IAM permissions, and permission boundaries;
  • experience in configuring S3 and managing access, including cross-account;
  • experience working with Docker and ECR and ECS services;
  • knowledge of CloudWatch and Athena and the ability to build monitoring and dashboards;
  • knowledge of SQS and SNS and methods for email notification of job completion or errors;
  • knowledge of PostgreSQL and DynamoDB databases;
  • ability to implement and support solutions in separate DEV, TEST, and PROD environments/accounts;
  • ability to document solutions and work with Azure DevOps (Wiki, repositories; Terraform pipelines are welcome);
  • independence, proactivity, responsibility, analytical thinking, and good communication with both technical and business people;
  • very good command of English, enabling ongoing collaboration with a client from the USA.
