#StartupsHarambeRun 2026, CapitalHarambeRun, under the Startup Funding Vehicles (SFV) initiative, this is a hands-on volunteering programme giving mobilisers, creatives, marketers, trainers and run-day organizers real event, campaign and community-mobilization experience in the space of a few months. The beauty of the programme is that volunteers start earning performance-based incentives as they deliver results, and beyond the Run, top-performing volunteers stand a strong chance of being retained as brand ambassadors or connected to job opportunities across the TechBuzz Hub and Startup Uganda network, depending on excellence and dedication. It is a competitive opportunity, open to a limited number of volunteers across six role tracks.

Role Description: Starting immediately and running through event day, Sunday, 29 November 2026, this is a part-time, on-site/field Volunteer role for the Startups Harambe Run, based in Kampala (with activity also at partner-university dispatch points). Depending on interest and strength, Volunteers will be assigned to one or more of six tracks: Also apply to the site directly: haramberun[dot]com

Community Mobiliser (organizing run meetings and mobilizing entrepreneurs, students and investors); Social Media Campaign Influencer (driving the #StartupsHarambeRun / #CapitalHarambeRun online campaigns); Marketing & Sales (driving running-kit sales and sponsorship/outreach conversations); Workout Trainer (leading warm-up and training sessions for participants in the lead-up to the Run); Run Marshal (route guidance, crowd management and participant safety on event day); and Digital Marketing (content creation, scheduling and campaign analytics). Tasks will include mobilizing and engaging communities, creating and distributing campaign content, supporting ticket/kit and sponsorship conversations, coordinating logistics with the organizing committee, and supporting the Run's wider goal of channeling proceeds into investable local enterprises and job creation.

Qualifications(Enthusiasm for community building and events is just enough)Skills in community mobilization, event organizing, or marketing & sales Skills in social media management, content creation, or digital marketing Interest in entrepreneurship, startup ecosystem building, and capital/investment awareness Strong organizational and communication skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team, including on event day Physical fitness and an interest in coaching, for the Workout Trainer and Run Marshal tracks Pursuing or holding a qualification in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field is an advantage, though not required for every track Experience in a startup, NGO, sports, or community-mobilization setting is a plus
