Overview:

We’re working with a well established and highly respected Loss Adjusting firm that is looking to grow its Surveying Services team across the Southeast.

They are looking for an experienced Building Surveyor to manage a portfolio of domestic and commercial property insurance claims, providing specialist surveying expertise from initial instruction through to settlement. Claims will vary in size and complexity, with exposure to a range of insured perils and the opportunity to become involved in larger and more technically complex losses.

You’ll work closely with Loss Adjusters, insurers, claims handlers, contractors and policyholders, taking ownership of your surveying input throughout the claims process. The growing Surveying Services operation also offers scope to progress into senior surveying, technical specialist, major and complex loss or management roles.

Role Responsibilities:

• Attending properties to inspect and assess damage following insured events.
• Identifying the cause and extent of damage and determining the works required.
• Producing technical reports with clear findings and repair recommendations.
• Preparing specifications, schedules of work and repair cost estimates.
• Reviewing contractors’ scopes, quotations and proposed repair costs.
• Providing technical surveying input to Loss Adjusters, insurers and claims teams.
• Working with adjusters and claims handlers to agree appropriate repair solutions.
• Reviewing relevant policy information when assessing damage and proposed works.
• Carrying out investigations into the cause and circumstances of losses where required.
• Communicating with policyholders, contractors, insurers and other stakeholders throughout the claim.
• Maintaining accurate records and ensuring all reports and recommendations are completed to a high standard.

Experience:

• A relevant Building Surveying qualification or equivalent experience.
• Practical experience across domestic and commercial properties.
• A background in Building Surveying, Insurance, Loss Adjusting, Claims or a related property role.
• Good technical knowledge of construction, defects, damage and repair methods.
• Experience with reports, specifications, schedules of work and cost assessments.
• An understanding of insurance claims and how policy cover can affect repair decisions.
• Strong communication skills and confidence dealing with clients, contractors and other stakeholders.
• The ability to manage your own workload and work independently.
• A willingness to travel to sites across the South East.
