About Design Practice
GovTech’s Design Practice is the central body for growing design across the agency: raising the quality of design, unlocking what design can do for government, and building the design community. The Design Practice is looking for a Designer who sets standards and builds systems that help good work happen across the organisation. You’ll document best practices, create showcases, and partner with the design system team to grow shared guidance. Your work will shape how every designer at GovTech understands and delivers quality.
[What you will be working on]
Navigate conversations with design leads and product teams to surface gaps, spot wins, and shape what gets standardised.
Synthesise what’s working across teams, partnering with design leaders to document and share patterns that raise quality.
Drive the design portal forward as the place designers go for standards, best practices, and learning materials.
Work on how design quality is measured across the government, building frameworks that make impact visible and learnable across the community.
Drive the execution on the strategic direction for a GovTech-wide design system.

[What we are looking for]
6+ years of experience building or contributing to design systems that scale across multiple teams or products.
A keen interest in how design moves the needle at an organisational level, not just within a single project.
Natural instinct for spotting what should be documented, standardised, or shared across teams.
Ease working across functions and seniority levels, from design leads to practitioners building the work.
Preferred background: hands-on experience shaping tooling decisions, team structures, or practice-level initiatives.
