Your tasks
- Perform patient registration, specimen reception, preparation, and packaging in accordance with established procedures.
- Conduct laboratory testing, including urine microscopy, full blood count, HbA1c, and other assigned analyses.
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments according to work instructions and quality standards.
- Perform point-of-care testing, phlebotomy, ECG, and spirometry procedures.
- Verify, validate, and report test results accurately and within required turnaround times.
- Investigate, document, and escalate testing anomalies or irregularities as appropriate.
- Conduct daily quality control checks and ensure compliance with laboratory standards.
- Maintain accurate documentation, maintenance records, and quality control logs for traceability purposes.
- Address patient enquiries professionally and escalate complex issues when required.
- Adhere to workplace safety, laboratory safety, and infection prevention and control protocols.
- Provide administrative and operational support to ensure smooth clinic and laboratory operations.
Requirements
- Degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Biomedical Science, or a related discipline.
- Relevant experience in a clinical laboratory environment is preferred. Training will be provided.
- Experience in phlebotomy and heel-prick sample collection is an added advantage.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage challenging situations professionally while maintaining a patient-focused approach.
- Able to multitask and work effectively under tight timelines.
- Strong team player with good interpersonal relationship skills.
- Computer literacy with knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is an added advantage.
- Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to accuracy and quality standards.
