Scaffolding Manager

Key Responsibilities Manage and oversee all scaffolding activities across project sites.

Develop scaffolding plans, schedules, manpower requirements, and resource allocation.

Ensure scaffolding works are executed according to approved drawings, method statements, and project specifications.

Supervise the erection, modification, inspection, tagging, maintenance, and dismantling of scaffolding systems.

Ensure all scaffolding structures are stable, secure, and suitable for their intended loads and applications.

Coordinate with Project Managers, Construction Managers, Site Engineers, HSE teams, and subcontractors to ensure smooth execution.

Review and approve scaffolding designs, calculations, drawings, and method statements where applicable and within the company’s authorization structure.

Ensure scaffolding materials and components comply with approved standards and project requirements.

Conduct regular inspections and ensure corrective actions are implemented promptly.

Maintain proper records of scaffolding inspections, permits, tags, handover certificates, and dismantling activities.

Ensure compliance with relevant international/local scaffolding and occupational safety standards.

Monitor scaffolding productivity, manpower utilization, material consumption, and project progress.

Identify potential risks associated with scaffolding activities and implement appropriate control measures.

Lead and supervise scaffolding supervisors, inspectors, foremen, and scaffolders.

Provide technical guidance and training to scaffolding teams.

Coordinate with procurement and warehouse teams regarding scaffolding materials, equipment, and availability.

Monitor the condition of scaffolding materials and ensure damaged or defective components are removed from service.

Investigate scaffolding-related incidents, unsafe conditions, and non-conformities and recommend corrective actions.

Prepare periodic progress reports and provide management with updates on scaffolding activities and requirements.

Ensure scaffolding activities are completed within approved schedules and budgets.

Promote a strong safety culture and ensure that all personnel follow site HSE procedures.

Education Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related technical field is preferred.

Relevant technical qualifications or certifications in scaffolding may be accepted based on experience.

Experience Minimum 12–15 years of experience in scaffolding operations within construction, engineering, industrial, infrastructure, or similar projects.

Minimum 10–15 years of experience in a managerial or supervisory scaffolding position.

Proven experience managing large scaffolding teams and multiple work fronts.

Experience in major construction, industrial, oil & gas, infrastructure, or high-rise projects is an advantage.

Technical Skills Strong knowledge of scaffolding systems, components, erection, modification, inspection, and dismantling.

Strong understanding of scaffolding design principles, load requirements, stability, access, and fall protection.

Good knowledge of scaffolding standards and regulations such as OSHA, BS/EN, TG20, NASC, or other applicable standards.

Ability to review scaffolding drawings, layouts, method statements, and risk assessments.

Knowledge of different scaffolding systems, including tube & fitting, system scaffolding, mobile scaffolds, access towers, and temporary structures.

Good understanding of construction site operations and sequencing.

Ability to plan manpower, materials, equipment, and scaffolding requirements.

Good knowledge of HSE requirements and safe working practices.

Certifications Valid scaffolding competency/supervisor certification is preferred.

Relevant HSE certifications are an advantage.

OSHA, NEBOSH, IOSH, CISRS, or equivalent certifications are an advantage, depending on project requirements.

First Aid certification is an advantage.

Ability to use project management/reporting systems.

AutoCAD knowledge is preferred.

Knowledge of BIM or other engineering software is an advantage.
