Software Developer

The role of the Software Developer is to design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks, etc.

You will assist in building, maintaining, and enhancing server-side applications, focusing on performance, scalability, and security.

You will work alongside experienced developers to contribute to various web and backend projects, gaining hands-on experience and knowledge in modern software development practices.

Experience

3+ yrs professional software development, with experience contributing to production software

Has shipped and supported features in a production system

Core must have

Reliable REST API development - implements endpoints, validation, pagination, and clear error responses

Full-stack capability - can deliver defined work across backend + frontend and understands the request flow

Solid PostgreSQL skills - writes queries and understands schema changes, indexes, and migrations with review

Cloud/infra familiarity (AWS preferred) - deploys services with guidance, reads logs and metrics, and troubleshoots common issues

Strong engineering fundamentals - readable code, testing, security basics, CI/CD, Git, and constructive code review

AI assisted development important for us

Works effectively with AI coding tools (Claude / Claude Code, Copilot, etc.) as part of daily workflow

Knows how to prompt, guide, and review AI output and applies project conventions rather than accepting it uncritically

Can verify and take ownership of AI-generated code: tests it, catches obvious bugs and bad patterns, and raises uncertainty early

Good judgment on when to use AI to accelerate well-scoped work and when to work through the problem directly

Language stance

We work in TypeScript / Next.js , but we are language agnostic - engineers from Python, Go, Java, C#, etc. who learn quickly are welcome. Prior JS/TS or React/Next.js is a plus, not required.

Nice to have

AWS specifics: Lambda, ECS, RDS, S3, CloudWatch, IaC (Terraform/CDK)

Practical testing and debugging - unit or integration tests, root-cause analysis, and safe fixes

Observability, performance awareness, and a willingness to learn cloud cost basics

Soft skills

Clear async + verbal communicator; works well with product, design, and ops

Ownership mindset - moves well-defined features through implementation, review, and delivery

Pragmatic and coachable; asks for feedback early and balances speed vs. quality
