Standard Network Technician / Network Engineer- Carlow, Ireland

Pay Rate: €280 per day Location: Carlow, Ireland – Onsite / Project-based

Job Purpose

Provide onsite technical services for the physical installation, deployment, testing and troubleshooting of LAN/WLAN network infrastructure. The engineer will work according to the customer-approved HLD/LLD and site deployment plan.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform onsite rack and cabinet preparation.
• Stage, label and install switches, gateways and access points.
• Rack and stack network equipment in MDF/IDF cabinets.
• Perform copper and fiber patching and cable testing.
• Install and maintain cable management using customer-approved standards.
• Mount APs up to 3 m where specified.
• Perform 1:1 AP replacement where applicable.
• Check newly installed equipment for basic operational/DOA issues.
• Connect console cables and provide support to remote configuration engineers.
• Perform basic network connectivity and installation troubleshooting.
• Support FAT and site acceptance activities.
• Take before/after photographs of racks and installed equipment.
• Complete installation and test documentation.
• Escalate issues, blockers and deviations to the Network Engineer/Project Manager.
• Comply with customer site security, health and safety requirements.

Required Skills

• Practical knowledge of LAN/network infrastructure.
• Working knowledge of switches, routers and basic network connectivity.
• Experience with rack-and-stack activities.
• Copper and fiber cabling installation/testing.
• Experience with patch panels and structured cabling.
• Ability to read basic network/rack diagrams.
• Ability to use console cables and standard engineering tools.
• Good onsite communication and documentation skills.
• Ability to work independently within defined procedures.

Certification

• OEM certification not mandatory .
• CCNA or equivalent is beneficial but not mandatory unless required by the specific site.
