Speech & Drama Teacher (Chinese & English Bilingual)
Position Overview
We are seeking a creative, collaborative, and energetic Chinese-English Bilingual Speech & Drama Teacher to join our team. In this role, you will lead dynamic speech and drama programs for our K1 and K2 classes, focusing on speech mechanics, expressive communication, and dramatic performance.
You will be instrumental in nurturing children's confidence, articulation, and artistic expression while contributing to our holistic, arts-integrated curriculum. Experience or familiarity with the Project Approach pedagogy is highly advantageous.
Teach foundation mechanics, focusing on vocal projection, clear articulation, proper enunciation, rhythm, and tone in both English and Mandarin.
Drama Components: Facilitate immersive drama activities, creative role-play, story enactment, and expression through movement and voice.
Integrated Learning: Integrate speech and drama seamlessly to boost children's confidence, social-emotional development, and communication skills.
- Year-End Concert & Script Creation
Write, adapt, and direct the Year-End Concert script for the graduating K2 classes. Audition, select, and coach the main cast for the K2 graduation performance. Rehearse and prepare K1 and K2 students for stage confidence, stage positioning, and performance readiness.
- Pedagogy, Documentation & Progress Reporting
Utilize or align lessons with the Project Approach pedagogy, encouraging inquiry-led exploration through dramatic arts. Document Children’s Learning: Capture learning processes, growth milestones, and creative journey through photos, anecdotes, and portfolios. Progress Reports: Write comprehensive twice-yearly progress reports detailing speech development, confidence, and participation.

- Team Collaboration & Parent Engagement
Cross-Disciplinary Teamwork: Work collaboratively with classroom teachers and arts specialists across other disciplines (e.g., visual arts, dance, music) to co-create rich thematic learning experiences. Parent-Teacher Conferences: Conduct twice-yearly updates with parents to share insights on their child’s progress, project involvement, and artistic development.
Requirements & Qualifications
Language Proficiency: Full bilingual fluency in spoken and written English and Mandarin (required to teach, write scripts, and write reports in both languages).
Education & Background:
- Diploma or Degree in Drama/Theatre, Performing Arts, Early Childhood Education, or relevant certification (e.g., Speech & Drama teaching diploma).
Experience:
- Proven experience teaching Speech & Drama to young children (ages 4–6).
- Direct experience in scriptwriting, directing, or staging early childhood performances/concerts.
Pedagogical Understanding:
- Familiarity with the Project Approach or inquiry-based learning in early childhood settings is an advantage.
