Head of Primary

Role purpose

The role holder is responsible for overseeing the teachers in the primary stage level in addition to curriculum, lessons and manpower planning in the said stage.

Responsibilities

Leadership

Supports the principal, vice principal and academic supervisors in the implementation of the campus’s policies, procedures, and processes

Leads, trains, guides and supports teachers in the levels and oversees their career development in conjunction with the principal, vice principal and academic supervisor, making recommendations for appropriate in-service training

Functional

Reviews the syllabus for the level and designs the annual curriculum framework

Ensures the syllabus is completed before the stipulated date for all assessments

Conducts checks and reviews question papers for balance, modernization and validity

Follows up on results analysis and reporting of the results to management

Plans the timetable and placement of teachers according to the requirements

Monitors the timetable allotment, substitution and workload distribution of the teachers

Determines teaching staff strength and requirements in the various levels in advance

Reviews the teaching content and lesson plans developed by teachers at the start of the curriculum planning process and provides inputs

Approves the review of the textbooks conducted by the head of departments and teachers

Conducts formal and informal observation of the teachers in the classroom and provides feedback for improvement

Organizes class demonstrations, teaching methods, the use of aides and other help to the teachers in the level

Monitors the performance and results of the students in the levels to determine if learning outcomes have been achieved, and if the teaching methodologies and contents require any changes

Stays updated on curriculum requirements and changes if any

People focus

Collaborates proactively with human resource to continuously increase competency within the function to meet future organization’s needs through the development and recruitment of talent

Assists in the recruitment, selection, orientation, and training of teachers
