Safety Officer

Seeking a Workplace Safety and Health Officer to support fire alarm and fire protection installation, upgrading, testing and maintenance works at operating facilities in Singapore. The role involves working closely with project teams, subcontractors and clients to plan safe work and manage site risks.

Responsibilities

• Review risk assessments, safe work procedures, method statements and permit-to-work requirements before work starts.
• Conduct site inspections and briefings; follow up on unsafe conditions and corrective actions.
• Assess risks associated with electrical isolation, work at height, lifting, confined spaces and work in occupied facilities.
• Coordinate safety arrangements with clients, facility operators, project teams and subcontractors, including access restrictions and night work.
• Investigate incidents and near misses, prepare reports and track preventive actions.
• Maintain WSH records, training records, inspection reports and project safety documentation.
• Advise management and site teams on applicable WSH requirements and practical improvements.

Requirements

• Current registration as a Workplace Safety and Health Officer with Singapore’s Ministry of Manpower (MOM).
• Relevant WSH qualification and experience in construction, engineering Installation or maintenance works.
• Able to communicate clearly with workers, supervisors and clients and take a practical, hands-on approach on site.
• Experience in fire protection, M&E works, transport facilities or live operating environments is an advantage.
• Willing to attend site works outside normal office hours when required.

Qualifications and certifications

• WSQ Specialist Diploma in Workplace Safety and Health.
• Advanced Certificate in Workplace Safety and Health.
• Registered Environmental Control Officer (Specified Construction Sites), with completion of the ECO course.
• Training in WSH control measures, hazard identification, incident investigation and reporting, WSH management systems, legal compliance, policy development, and monitoring WSH performance.
• Training in emergency preparedness and response and promoting WSH culture.
• Workplace Safety and Health Management in the Construction Industry.
• Supervise Workplace Safety and Health in Process Plant.
• Managing Work-at-Heights.
• Confined Space Management.
• Supervise Safe Lifting Operations and Perform Rigger and Signalman Tasks.
• Chemical Safety and Health Awareness.
