Electrical Technical & Tendering Engineer

We’re recruiting on behalf of an established UK engineering business operating within the electrical power distribution sector.

Due to continued growth, our client is looking to appoint an experienced Electrical Technical & Tendering Engineer to join its engineering function.

This is a varied technical role combining electrical engineering, tendering, specification review, supplier management and technical support. You’ll work closely with engineering, sales, procurement, suppliers and customers, supporting projects involving LV distribution equipment, MV RMUs and associated electrical infrastructure.

It would suit someone who has built their career within the LV/HV electrical distribution or switchgear sector and is comfortable moving between technical specifications, commercial quotations, component selection and supplier/customer discussions.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Reviewing customer technical specifications and single-line diagrams (SLDs)
• Supporting the preparation and costing of tenders for LV cabinets, feeder pillars, RMUs and associated equipment
• Reviewing supplier quotations and helping establish appropriate project/tender costs
• Developing bills of materials (BOMs) and selecting components to meet customer specifications
• Reviewing and approving supplier drawings
• Liaising closely with purchasing and external suppliers on pricing, quotations and technical matters
• Identifying alternative components or solutions where material or supply issues arise
• Working with suppliers to resolve quality issues and prevent recurrence
• Supporting supplier development and assessing potential new supply partners
• Providing technical calculations, product information and engineering support to internal teams
• Reviewing tender specifications and advising sales colleagues on technical requirements
• Responding to customer technical queries and attending customer meetings or site visits where required
• Visiting suppliers for technical discussions, process reviews and product inspections where necessary
• Supporting wider engineering projects and working with third-party consultants when required
