About the Role
We are looking for a hands-on Production Engineer / Production Support Engineer to join our manufacturing team.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys being close to production, solving practical engineering problems and improving the way products are manufactured. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing standardised processes, supporting production teams and driving continuous improvement across the business.
Working closely with the Engineering Manager and production teams, you will help ensure complex builds are properly planned, production processes are efficient and repeatable, and the right tools and documentation are in place to support high-quality manufacture.
Key Responsibilities
- Create, implement and manage Standard Work processes and documentation within production.
- Provide day-to-day engineering and tooling support to the production team.
- Act as a key driver of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement , encouraging and supporting others to adopt Lean principles.
- Work closely with the Engineering Manager to look ahead at complex builds and identify potential challenges and solutions before production begins.
- Develop planned solutions to improve production efficiency, quality and repeatability.
- Design and manufacture production tools, fixtures and aids to support manufacturing processes.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, reduce waste and increase productivity.
- Support the introduction and implementation of improved production methods.
- Where required, undertake basic machining using lathe and milling machines .
- Investigate production issues and provide practical engineering solutions.
- Work closely with production and engineering colleagues to ensure processes are understood and consistently followed.
- Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, quality and operational excellence.
About You
We are looking for someone who is practical, technically minded and enjoys finding solutions to manufacturing challenges.
You may currently be working as a Production Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, Production Support Engineer, Manufacturing Technician or similar , with experience within a manufacturing environment.
You will ideally have:
- Previous experience within a manufacturing or production environment .
- Practical engineering and problem-solving skills.
- Experience of developing or improving production processes and work instructions .
- An understanding of Lean Manufacturing / Continuous Improvement principles.
- Experience working with production teams to improve efficiency, quality and repeatability.
- The ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
- Experience designing or making tools, fixtures or production aids .
- Basic machining experience, ideally using a lathe and milling machine .
- A hands-on approach and willingness to get involved on the production floor.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with production and engineering teams.
- A proactive approach to identifying problems and implementing practical solutions.
