Framatome is an international leader in nuclear energy, recognized for its innovative and digital solutions, and its high value-added technologies for the global nuclear fleet. With global expertise and strong references in terms of reliability and performance, the company designs, maintains, and installs components and fuels, as well as control-command systems for nuclear power plants.

You will be integrated into the department in charge of the development and physical validation of codes and methods used to size reactor cores and demonstrate their safety. Missions / Internship Description: APOLLO3 is the new deterministic nuclear code currently being developed by the CEA as part of high-fidelity neutronics simulations, both at the lattice scale and the core scale. NEMESI is a prototype industrial platform designed for lattice calculations and the generation of multiparametric data libraries intended for core calculations with APOLLO3. Although APOLLO3 offers a "native" geometry generation method, certain complex configurations cannot be represented this way. APOLLO3 already integrates an external tool designed for this type of geometry, called ALAMOS. As part of the industrialization of APOLLO3, NEMESI is co-developed by EDF and Framatome and aims to simplify the preparation of lattice calculations, both for novice and advanced users. The main mission of this internship will consist of continuing the development of two Python modules intended for the generation of complete 2D core geometries, including 2D analytical reflectors. These Python modules must be integrated into the NEMESI workflow to allow the on-the-fly generation of complex geometries, either using the native method proposed by APOLLO3, or via the interface proposed by ALAMOS. The intern will notably be required to:

  • Design the architecture, develop new features, and integrate the modules into NEMESI,
  • Test and validate their developments using already defined and validated geometries,
  • Write the associated documentation.

You are preparing a Master's level degree (Bac +5) from an engineering school or university equivalent, ideally with a specialization in computer science. Dynamic and autonomous, you enjoy teamwork and demonstrate good listening skills. Proactive, you know how to communicate on the progress of your work and write clear and structured documentation. Required Skills: Experience in Python development, ideally on large-scale projects Software design skills Mastery of version control tools, notably Git Familiarity with Linux environments and command-line interfaces (Bash) Knowledge of neutronics is appreciated Intermediate English level
